Original Design

Research & Analysis

  • Conducted a heuristic evaluation to identify usability gaps and prioritize improvements.

  • Managed a beta program to collect direct user feedback on app language, navigation, and system flow.

Design

  • Redesigned device management screens to seamlessly integrate legacy and new-generation products.

  • Introduced bottom bar navigation, applying Miller’s Law (grouping information) and Jakob’s Law (aligning with familiar patterns) to improve usability.

  • Established updated visual brand guidelines to create a cohesive and scalable design system across devices.

Iteration & Improvements

  • Improved in-app language for clarity and accessibility based on beta user feedback.

  • Refined navigation flows and system feedback to better support both existing and new devices.

Project Overview: FloLogic Next-Generation Device Ecosystem & UI Redesign

As FloLogic expanded its smart water monitoring ecosystem to include a new generation of devices, a full redesign of the user experience was essential. I led the UI restructuring to support the new multi-device system, address previous usability pain points, and ensure intuitive interactions across legacy and new hardware.

My contributions included:

  • Mapping the New Ecosystem: I collaborated with engineering to understand the capabilities and relationships between the Gateway, Connect, and the new PinPoint sensor devices, creating a clear system map for user flows.

  • Rebuilding the UI Architecture: I redesigned the device listing and status screens to accommodate multiple devices per user (including sub-devices like PinPoints), ensuring scalability while maintaining clarity.

  • Centralizing Notifications: I introduced a centralized Notification Hub, solving a major pain point where users previously had to dig through individual device settings to find alerts.

  • Improving Language and System Feedback: I modernized system terminology, addressing user confusion around technical terms like "Leak" by integrating clearer, real-world language into alerts and status updates.

  • Maintaining Visual Continuity: The new interface preserved the core brand elements (such as device color states) while introducing a cleaner, more scalable design to support future product expansion.

Through heuristic evaluations and iterative testing, I focused on improving system status visibility, user control, and consistency — creating a more intuitive experience for both legacy users and new adopters as FloLogic expanded its smart water management capabilities.
